+ How can I visit Russia?
If you are going to St. Petersburg or Moscow and you already have both your visa and hostel card, then the easiest approach is to make a reservation via the International Booking Network. We make the reservation on your behalf and collect the booking fee from you in euros. We then provide you with a booking receipt that you can use for your hostel accommodation. If you do not yet have a hostel card, then you can purchase one from us.If you are travelling to St. Petersburg and you need a visa, then you can place your reservation with the St. Petersburg International Hostel through us. You pay us a reservation fee and the rate for the first night in St. Petersburg and your booking is confirmed within 24 hours. You may use this booking in your visa application at the Russian Consulate (address list in Finnish). In other cases we urge you to consult a travel agent. Organisations such as TourShop arrange travel to Russia.
+ Where can I leave my car?
Eurohostel has no parking space of its own, but vehicles may be parked in Linnankatu directly in front of the hostel. This is a metered parking area – the charge is € 2,00 per hour (as of 2010) for parking between 09:00 and 19:00 Monday to Friday. Parking is free of charge at other times. The nearest pay and display machine is on the corner of Linnankatu and Vyökatu.
+ How does a hostel differ from a hotel?
Hostels charge only for the services that you need. The standard of service and furnishings in a hostel is less luxurious than in a hotel, and this is also reflected in lower prices. There are no en suite bathrooms, and the shower and WC facilities are shared with other guests. Each accommodation floor has a self-service kitchen, where there is also a television for common use. The basic accommodation price does not include breakfast, but this can be purchased at reception each morning if required
+ Where can I change foreign currency?
The nearest currency exchange point is at the Katajanokka sea terminal (open between 08:00 and 21:00). There are other currency exchange points (e.g. Forex) in the city centre. Currency cannot be changed at reception.
+ Are pets allowed?
We have 3 twin rooms available for pet owners. It is not allowed to take pets to any other room. There is 15 € extra fee per room for the pets despite how many pets you have. Please remember always to ask first if there is a pet room available.
Please remember the pets must not cause any disturbance and the dogs must not be left alone in the room. The customer is responsible for any damages.
+ Is it possible to have a breakfast before restaurant opens?
If you want to have your breakfast before restaurant opens you may order a takeaway breakfast bag at the reception latest 6 PM on the previous evening - or one more day earlier if the previous day is a National Holiday.
The restaurant makes the breakfast bag and brings it to the reception where you may pick it up 24 hours a day. The price is 7,70 € which equals the price for the normal breakfast and therefore you may pay the takeaway breakfast with our normal breakfast voucher.
+ Where can I park my bicycle?
We do not have any parking space for the bikes inside the building and it is not allowed to bring the bike into the room. The bicycles may be parked to our back yard to a location specified by our staff. You will park the bike with your own responsibility so please use a chain lock. Please inform us about your bike when reserving the room.
